Comprised of Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS) skills designed to teach, improve, and track learner’s dexterity utilizing laparoscopic instruments in a virtual box trainer environment
Practice, learn and improve minimally invasive surgical (MIS) skills, from basic to advanced laparoscopic procedures with the CAE LapVR surgical simulator for laparoscopy training. LapVR gives learners the opportunity to develop proficiency in techniques such as suturing, knot tying and loop ligation as well as some frequently performed laparoscopic surgeries like gallbladder removal and tubal occlusion for risk-free learning before they touch their first patient. The simulator supports setup for individuals or groups and easy course planning. Administrators may easily customize case parameters to match each learner’s performance level. At the conclusion of each case, learners are debriefed with evidence-based metrics and outcome measurements. The recorded metrics and post-case debriefing provide analytical feedback for continuous trainee development.
The LapVR modules begin with basic laparoscopic techniques and progress to laparoscopic cholecystectomy and bilateral tubal occlusion
LapVR simulators are height-adjustable, lightweight, compact and easy to store away so learners may effectively develop visual-spatial dexterity with both dominant and non-dominant hands
Learners acquire tactile surgical skills through accurate haptic technology for practice of suturing, knot-tying and loop ligation
Patient cases are derived from real patient data with comprehensive curriculum planning and learner assessment features
Complete with skills modules for Essential, Procedural, General Surgical and OB/Gyn training
2 pairs of handle instruments with six degrees of freedom
24" flat screen monitor
Camera includes five degrees of freedom, adjustable virtual lenses and image capture
Didactic content with training objectives, instruction, demos, case history and parameters
Ability to customize certain case parameters to match the learner's skill level
